Dear Blog….

July 16, 2009

I am terribly sorry for neglecting you.  I know I promised to write…but lately I am consumed with life…summer life.  Swim lessons, out-of-town trips, BBQ’s, playdates, late-night backyard fun, etc.  Not to mention how far behind I am in editing photos (and designing an album for a *special* someone).   I am crazy {happy} busy these days…which is fine by me because I am a project girl at heart.  I love having my plate piled high with things to do.  A self-professed workaholic of sorts.  It’s easy…when you love what you do!  I will forewarn you though, I will be MIA for a couple days again…I heading out of town for my birthday on Friday.  Lots of fun, fun SURPRISE plans in store.  I have no idea what Todd has planned for me…but I LOVE surprises to be sure!

I’ll share a cutie with you….here you go Tracey…

*Miss H* is an absolute doll.  Check out that smile– melts my heart!

And a few pics of my own cuties (working on new market material)…my camera begs to take their pictures so you’ll have to bear with me…

Chase is growing up soooo fast.  He is starting to look like such a big boy in photographs.  His baby fat is long gone…replaced by his *ever growing*  lanky limbs; a wicked sweet smile of a brother who loves lives to agitate his little sisters, and not to mention the negotiator of the family– takes after his dad to be sure!  Everything is to be negotiated…cleaning his room has a price– an orange lollipop, picking up toys, micromanaging his sisters…it’s negotiable.  Apparently, he has a contract that I am unaware of…time to re-negotiated that *mystery* contract of his!   He’s a sweet angel that I am thankful for everyday….even if he is a stinker!

Happy Thursday…

**Photogs…I’ll post my weekly freebie either later today or tomorrow before I head out.  Check back.

ok, so i think  know i have the worlds pickiest eaters…really!  i challenge anyone (i really hope that i would lose)!  my kids hate all things green, leafy (resembling trees or any other backyard find) basically anything healthy is *off* limits.  it’s really quite sad….they would live off of yogurt, cheese sticks and mac-n-cheese.  see my dilemma?  i recently came across jessica seinfeld’s cookbook, deceptively delicious (total steal at TJ Maxx for $6.99).  i love how sneaky she is when it comes to veggies and treats.  she actually adds cauliflower puree to brownie mix (i kid you not).  i think i can be sly, stealthy, even cunning when it comes to getting my kids to get some healthy veggies into their diet.  hopefully it tastes better than it sounds!  wish me luck….

moving on to some funnnnnn stuff…..i have been feeling very creative lately!  it rained almost all day today.  i had plenty of time to {create}!   rainy days make it easy for me to fulfill my weekly share!

This storyboard is a fully customizable 11×14 template.  I hope you like it….it is set on a white background.  I {LOVE} it….so modern and fun!  You can download it here for seven days.  Enjoy!  Off to get my girlies to bed!

It is nooooooo secret….I {love} sun flare and lens flare….ahhhhhh; it enhances to the overall mood and feeling in a photograph.  I think (I know) I drive Todd crazy pointing out sun flare and/or lens flare whenever I see it (sorry, Todd- I cannot help it…it’s love)!  So imagine my delight when I came across these photographs I took last week…it was *love at first sight* for me when editing these gems:

It adds to the blissful mood of a perfect summer’s evening in the country!  Love it love it love it!

It’s a cold and soggy 4th of July here …hence the post (my outdoor morning plans are ruined unfortunately- oh well).  We are heading out of  town for a party this afternoon.   I am really hoping that Chicago weather will cooperate this evening…

Have a safe and happy holiday.  Here’s to:  yummy food, good times with family and friends, and our brave soldiers – past and present!   Celebrate independence and equality.

July 3, 2009

It’s already been a long productive day for me and it’s still morning!  I read all my blogs…like I do everyone morning– there is nothing like jolt of inspiration to start your day!  Tackled the laundry (as if anyone can really conquer this feat with 3 kiddos!) And…I was thinking it’s time to update some of my own wall art!  I need something simple, yet stylish to replace the dated pictures of Chase and Mady.  So, I hit PS bright and early and designed:

Simple and stylish, right?  I think they will look fab next to the Ella’s storyboard.  I am not quite ready to update Ella’s…I am dreading packing away Ella’s baby pictures.  She’s the baby of the family, and I want to hold on to her baby status as long as I can.  *Sniffle* it goes by way too fast as it is….

I am all about sharing!  It’s my way of paying it foward– I feel the need to do this because so many photogs out there were sharing their work with me when I first started out!  Besides, there is nothing greater than small acts of kindness.  If everyone did this, the world would be such a better place.  With 3 kids– I wish the world to be a better place for them.  *SigH*  Just doing my part– leading by example.   I am planning on posting  freebies on here– aiming for weekly freebies, so hold me to it!

The download link will expire after 7 days:

Enjoy!  It’s a fully customizable, 11×14 template;  I condensed both versions into one layered file.  It would make a stylish album page template too….just a thought.  Happy Friday….have a  great 4th of July…be safe…have fun!

It’s my birthday month…YAY!!! Yes, I celebrate the whole month of July…much to the dismay of my husband! 🙂 I love having a July birthday…it’s *summer*, 4th of July and I still have a couple months of warm weather to look forward to.  I just hope this bad habit of mine doesn’t pass down to my three kids…might get expensive! I have learned that it is way better to give than receive. In celebration of my birthday month, I will be offering 20% off my session fee for sessions booked in the month of July. And, it gets better….if you and 2 friends book a session in the month of July, you all (yep, all 3 of you) will get 20% off your prints as well. So, tell your friends!!! 🙂

Wanna know what I got for my birthday (see, I told ya…the whole month is mine)? I found this on my doorstep this afternoon. I have been wanting one for quite awhile, and I just learned that they were having a sale — most notably on the design that I have been craving!  It was divine intervention really….I was meant to have this. Thanks, Todd! xoxo

What good is a post without eye candy? Here ya go….

Oh, and photog friends…I will have something for you!  Check back next week for my *gift* to you!  Happy Thursday!

Thinking ahead…

June 26, 2009

All this heat has got me thinking about Christmas (ok, not really)!  It’s tooooo  hot outside to do much of anything!  After designing E’s birthday invitation, I got a  card template kick.  I have already started designing christmas card templates for clients.  I am thinking of offering these templates for sale (for personal and professional use) on my website…we’ll see.   🙂

Well…we’re off to the pool– I’ve promised the kids that we would do something fun today (besides watching Dora).

**And later…I will be making this:

  • 3 pounds baby back pork ribs
  • 3/4 cup maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard powder

    1. Place ribs in a large pot, and cover with water. Cover, and simmer for 1 hour, or until meat is tender. Drain, and transfer ribs to a shallow dish.
    2. In a small saucepan, stir together the maple syrup, brown sugar, ketchup, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and mustard powder. Bring to a low boil, and cook for 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Cool slightly, then pour over ribs, and marinate in the refrigerator for 2 hours.
    3. Prepare grill for cooking with indirect heat. Remove ribs from marinade. Transfer marinade to a small saucepan, and boil for several minutes.
    4. Lightly oil grate. Cook for about 20 minutes, basting with the cooked marinade frequently, until nicely glazed.
